BRAT – Bike Ride Across Tennessee

Day one of BRAT was very difficult for me and many others. The route was 80 miles and to say it was hilly is an understatement……….we were riding over mountain passes! I started getting leg cramps despite my pickles and Enduralyte capsules. It was also pretty hot (upper 80’s) and we had a 20 mph head wind at times. I ended up riding about 45 miles and decided to call it quits. The nice State Park rangers kept busy all afternoon transporting those of us that called it quits. I would estimate that about one third of the riders did not finish the route. I heard one of the rangers telling one rider that they would give him IV fluids when they got back to help his cramping. Got camp set up by mid-afternoon, showered and rested. Sent from my iPhone
