Sonoran Desert Tour – March 18-20, 2011

The 17th was our last riding day, but Deb and I stayed in Tucson a few more days to do a bit of sightseeing.  We had breakfast at the Lodge on the Desert as our last group meal and then people started going their separate ways.  Lorraine left first to catch a 10:30 flight (or so she thought)……turns out she read her itenerary wrong and she actually missed her 6:30 flight.  She eventually got home later in the day by doing a bit of re-routing.  Debbie, Deb and I hung out by the pool for a bit until our shuttle van arrived at 11:00am.  Deb and I were dropped off at a hotel near the airport and Debbie continued on for her flight home.  We stowed out bikes and luggage in a storage room at our hotel and walked over to the airport to pick up a rental car.  We drove back to the Sonoran Desert Museum that we had biked to earlier in the week.  We spent several hours there and then headed back to the hotel to relax.  I searched online and found a really good Mexican restaurant where we went for dinner.  The next day we went back to Tubac for some shopping and then flew out early the following morning.  We had a really great time on this trip and enjoyed the biking and good friends.  We learned the importance of hydrating after desert riding and also that if you get salt on the rim of your margarita glass it helps replace the sodium you lost while sweating.  We laughed often and hard and have many funny stories to reminisce about in the future.  Only about a month until our next bicycle adventure in  Louisiana!
